Our School Board works with the school community to achieve the best outcomes for students at Wongan Hills DHS. It plays an important role in contributing to good school governance so that school resources are used efficiently, and community expectations and the school’s priorities reflect the needs of students.
The functions of boards and councils are covered by legislation and include both approval and advisory roles. Some of the matters boards may make decisions on include:
Taking part in:
-strategic planning and setting directions and targets for the school
-reviewing and informing some policy
-selection of principal
-school review processes including understanding student data to inform school priorities and involvement with our Public School Review
-informing the Behaviour Policy for students
-noting the school budget
Determining:
-student dress code in consultation with students, parents and staff
Approving:
-contributions and charges
-sponsorship arrangements
Providing advice on:
-special religious education
Promoting:
-the school in the community
