Emergency Services Cadets
The Emergency Services Cadet Corps is challenging, diverse and rewarding. You will gain valuable skills and become an active citizen in the community.

At the beginning of each year all Year 7-12 students can opt to participate in Cadets.

As an Emergency Services Cadet you learn about the diverse nature of Western Australia's emergency services and help promote public awareness in the management of emergencies at the State, regional and local level. Emergency Service Cadets undertake core training modules and support these with an extensive range of electives.

Core modules include:

  • first aid and emergency care
  • radio communication
  • fire safety and basic fire fighting
  • search and rescue techniques
  • boating and water safety
  • map reading and navigation
  • field craft and camping
  • leadership and instructional training.

Electives can include:

  • Driver training (Keys for Life)
  • HLTAIDOII Provide First Aid
  • Bronze Medallion
  • Adventure Based Courses/Activities
  • Train Small Groups
  • Bushfire Awareness

The Wongan Hills Emergency Services Cadet Unit operates for 2 hours per week within school hours as part of the curriculum, due to the large distance some students reside from school.

Our cadets annually attend a Bivouac Camp and another week camp in Term 4.
